Directly on Lake Starnberg, with a view of one of the most beautiful regions in Upper Bavaria, a new 15,300 m² residential quarter was to be built on the site of a former clinic. A crane solution that was as efficient as possible was needed for the lifting work, which could cover the large construction area in the very limited space available on the construction site.
For the team at BKL Munich, one thing was clear: perfectly coordinated construction cranes and exactly the right crane configurations were needed to ensure a smooth construction process and cost efficiency.
Tailor-made crane concept for confined spaces.
During the planning phase, BKL’s construction crane rental specialists developed a customized crane concept for the customer that covered the entire construction site for eight buildings with residential areas, commercial spaces and an underground car park. They selected three TLS 75 14T SR tower cranes from the BKL Sáez system.
Thanks to the combination of different hook heights and outreaches, the centerless top slewing jibs were able to swing over safely during the lifting work and reach all areas of the construction site for the housing project in Upper Bavaria.

Three tower cranes mounted in a space-saving manner.
The BKL team configured the two outermost cranes (Crane 1 and 3) with a jib length of 45 meters and a hook height of nearly 34 meters each. The third tower crane (Crane 3) was positioned centrally and achieved a jib length of 50 meters and a hook height of approximately 46 meters. The crane experts paid particular attention to the substructure: To minimize the footprint, the BKL Munich team mounted all three 260-meter-ton cranes on anchors. This saved several square meters of floor space and created more room for construction operations.
What does mounting a tower crane on anchors mean?
When a tower crane is mounted on anchors, it is installed on foundation anchors. These are embedded in the concrete foundation before the crane is mounted. Compared to mounting on a cross, this saves floor space and is ideal for construction sites with limited space.
Strong strokes for a successful construction project.
With a maximum lifting capacity of 14 tons each, the three top-slewing cranes took over the lifting work on the construction site. In addition to erecting the building complex, the three tower cranes also supported the construction of a slide that connects the various open spaces of the district down the slope.
Following the successful completion of the residential construction project in Upper Bavaria, the cranes were dismantled around a year later.
